| Bio: |  be sorted @ nimbo.net "Tungsten Monk." Oooh-kay. Interesting name, no? I picked it a long time ago--when I was fifteen, I think--because it was just so unusual that there was a snowball's chance in hell of anybody else having it. Tungsten is, of course, an excessively hard and very rare metallic element, and a monk is . . . a monk. Robes, chanting, shaved heads, the works. Does being a tungsten monk mean that I'm a religious practitioner made out of metal? Interesting image, but no. It just means that I like to put words together for no reason whatsoever. I'm nineteen years old and 5'9", with short brown hair, gray eyes, and a tendency to walk like Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The biggest pothole in my road of life is a yet-undiagnosed chemical disorder, which prompts occasional bouts of unrestrained psychosis and homicidal mania. It's well under control, but the fact remains that it's severely limited my possibilities for employment, which is why I've decided to become a novelist. The current project is called "The Hairy Man and the Sack," and it's about bogeymen. I'd estimate that the first draft is about seven-tenths done, give or take. I'm also a prolific writer of fanfiction. Currently, I've become hooked on the British television show Doctor Who, and I can and will imitate a Dalek whenever necessary. If you want an unattainable yet unique and charming ideal, you can't get a better than the good Doctor, geek hero extraordinary. That's a Dalek, up there in my icon. It will exterminate the badfic writers, at least as soon as I finish the story. My pet peeves include poepl who cant use teh langide k0r3ctli, people who devote themselves to a fandom simply because the characters are good-looking (plot? Anybody?), and people who make fun of Republicans for no reason. Yes, I'm a Republican, which in Chicago, Illinois is as good as having a target painted on your forehead. I try to adopt a live-and-let-live attitude towards politics, but given that I have a brother in the Marines (and another who's an Iraq vet, now attending school in California) I'm bound to get into a fighting mood if you mouth off about the US Army or Marines. That's my little brother Rick next to me, and the expression on his face is priceless. It's not hard to be scared of horses when one is more than three times as big as you are, no? My LJ is devoted to my PPC fiction, so that's what you're likely to see most of. Occasionally, I'll post extra things--like my Guide to LotR Mary Sues and Shakespearean PPC, both of which were born of late-night typing and cream soda. My favorite fandoms are Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Final Fantasy VII, Gates of Fire--though I haven't yet found any fanfiction for that one, thank God--and a whole slew of animes, the chief of which is Yuya Aoki and Rando Ayamine's Get-Backers. GB is a marvelous mixture of dirty humor, action, fascinating characters, and fanservice, with plenty of explosions and plot thrown in, too. As of now, I'm on semi-retirement from the Protectors of the Plot Continuum, due to novel-writing and collegiate obligations. I also run "The Official Fanfiction University of Final Fantasy," which is under revision and reformatting on its web page. Yes, new chapters will come eventually; please stop asking.
